Switching your Direct Debit from CAF Donate to GoCardless

 

 

How will it work?

 

You don’t have to do anything as we will liaise between the two providers but you may receive some notifications from CAF Donate (the current provider which we are leaving), GoCardless (the new provider we are switching to), and Donorfy (our internal donor database which integrates with GoCardless). Please see outlined below the two steps involved in the switch-over.

 

 

STEP 1:

 

  1. We will ask CAF Donate to transfer your Direct Debit instruction to GoCardless on 16th November 2020.
  2. This process can take a couple of weeks to take effect.
  3. At this time, you may receive a notification from CAF Donate that your Direct Debit has been cancelled, and a notification from GoCardless that a new Direct Debit has been set up.
  4. Please do not worry if this happens, you are not being charged twice. This is still the same Direct Debit, and the communications you may receive are just to confirm to your bank that your Direct Debit will be processed by GoCardless instead of CAF Donate.
  5. Once your Direct Debit has been switched to GoCardless, the reference on your bank statement will change from ‘charity donation’ to ‘GOCARDLESS, ref: NATIONALEYER’.
  6. The amount of your Direct Debit will, of course, remain the same.
  7. The date of the month your Direct Debit is collected will also remain the same as it is now.

 

 

STEP 2:

 

  1. Once all the Direct Debit instructions have been switched from CAF Donate to GoCardless, we will allow one payment to be processed by GoCardless before integrating them with our donor database (Donorfy). This ensures that the Direct Debit instruction has been transferred successfully to GoCardless.
  2. As Direct Debits are taken on the 1st or 15th of the month (depending on what you selected when setting up your original Direct Debit), this integration will happen on 16th and 17th December 2020.
  3. You may receive a notification from GoCardless, Donorfy or the National Eye Research Centre around this time stating that a new Direct Debit has been set up.
  4. As above, please do not worry if this happens, you are not being charged twice, it is just an automatic communication triggered by the new Direct Debit processing.

 

Once both steps have been completed, your donation amount will remain the same, but your support will be worth more to eye research!

We apologise that the reference on your bank statement will be just GOCARDLESS. Unfortunately, GoCardless would charge us £600 a year to have our charity’s name appear in full on your bank statement and we thought you’d rather we spent that money on research.
